Prof. Dr. Ilya Prigogine

Prof. Dr.
Ilya Prigogine

from the ULB - Université Libre and Vrije Universiteit in Bruxelles, Nobel Laureate for Chemistry and an enthusiastic organ player.

His discussions with the classical composer and musicologist Peter Hübner and his friends focus on the fudamentals of music and their significance for health as well as on the insights and findings of the physicists, classical musicians and Nobel laureates Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, Max Born and Wolfgang Pauli, who fundamentally changed the scientific view of the world more than 100 years ago and whose insights also touch the research into the harmony laws of nature in the microcosm of music and their presentation in the macrocosm of music.

For Peter Hübner it was not surprising, that each one of these pioneers of modern pyhsicists was also an enthusiastic classical musician.
Peter Hübner points out that the harmony laws of nature take effect from an abstract field, which Albert Einstein experienced as “one being” (“ein Sein” in German):

“But there are hours,
in which one is freed
from the inner connectedness
with human insuffiency.
One then stands on a spot
of a small planet
and sees astonished the cold,
yet so poignant beauty
of the Eternal,
in its depth Unfathomable.
There life and death flow together
to unity,
and there is no becoming
and no fate
but only one being.”

                                  Albert Einstein

A music which applies the functions of the harmony laws of nature in a scientific manner can systematically lead the listener to this field of “one being” in a natural way: this is proven by the objective scientific research results.

In a recommendation for
Peter Hübner‘s activity he states:

“The influence of music on the brain – and from there on the entire human physiology, mind and psyche – seems to me to be one of the most important research fields of today, since medicine and education are both in urgent need of being able to create harmony in a person in an objective, scientific way.

Therefore I find the efforts of the classical composer and musicologist Peter Hübner – who follows the scientific, mathematical approach practiced by Pythagoras and followed on by Johannes Kepler – most interesting and worthwhile to be promoted from as many sides as possible.

Mr. Hübner’s impressive musicological and artistic work often reminds me - as a scientist and as a lover and player of classical music - of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz’s vision:

‘I foresee
that the study of mathematics
will be directed
at grasping harmony and beauty
in their essence.’
